His mind went off, even if just for a moment.
The pressure to speak was all there was.
It would be fitting, it would be easy, it would be fulfilling. But, he didn’t have a choice.
This isn’t who he is. He’s better than this.
He was ready finish this. He was ready to make this all about him.
He thought his counterpart was weak. That made it much easier.
But he still couldn’t find the words to say to make this easier on himself. So he just had to end this now.
“You’re fired,” he said.
