Happy smile?

All I could see in the darkness were the perfect, pure white teeth. In truth, it should have been a happy, encouraging and caring smile.

But it wasn’t caring.

It hung there in the air and mocked me. Scared me. Moving ever so slowly towards me.

Surely this is a joke. This is not a monster coming towards me, it is a friend, a parent, trying to scare me.

It was working.

I stood my ground, believing that a happy surprise was coming up.

Then I saw the face, and I knew, this is going to end badly for me.
